Ah, a Friday off to relax

Ah, a Friday off to relax

No classes today due to the “Fall Break”, so what to do?
Well, first off I went for a hike, I hiked the Roundtree Branch trail, I never have gone as far as I went today on the trail, but it was fun – and worth it because of what I saw at the end of my little trek.

On the way I ran into deer on the trail, which was nice and then at the end I ran into a pair of swans. I don’t think I’ve seen a swan in years – and I was able to get close, far closer than I thought I would have been able to them. One had been tagged on its leg with a little metal ring, the other hadn’t.

Anyhow, I managed to snap a bunch of photos of which I will be uploading to the photo gallery
page. Nice shots, and something relaxing to watch for a while, even if I could hear cars and trucks going over the bridge not 60 some feet away from where I was standing.

I managed to finish reading the first Harry Potter book, “The Sorcerers Stone”, yesterday. Plenty of people have wanted me to read it so I finally broke down and got it. I can’t recall the last time I read a book published by Scholastic. Anyhow, I saw the movie a while ago like everybody else so I knew what was going to happen, more or less. I must say though, the movie is fairly true to the book, but it does leave out some cool things – like the final ‘test’ that Harry must pass before entering the last room for the final showdown. Then again, I’m the kind of guy that likes those logical puzzles.
All in all, I’d say it’s a pretty good read, and I’ll have to pick up the next book when I get the chance.

I think I might find another book to read now…I like the lighter reading versus the heavier stuff I’ve been reading lately.
