Thanksgiving!

What a weekend!
Surprised my Mom and youngest sister… and some of the workers at the Appleton Christian Bookstore when I ran into them at about 10:30am last Wednesday. About 5 hours before my mom even expected me home. I mention the workers because my little sister pretty much tackled me in the store – and yelled my name loud enough for everybody to hear.

Anyhow, I was able to spend some time with close friends over the weekend in addition to the rest of my ‘local’ relatives on my Dad’s side of the family. Played way too much of the game ‘Apples to Apples’ over the last 5 days.

Books! Yes – more books! Just what I need.
Besides getting 2 books from a friend I picked up the following books for myself:
Thanks for Being a Friend (I had bought a copy a few months back, but had given it away. I wanted one for myself.)
Leadership Meditations by David Goetz
Unlocking your Legacy – 25 keys for Success by Paul J. Meyer
The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren (Leather bound edition – was 75% off!)
The Ultimate book of Card & Magic Tricks – was on clearance at Barnes & Noble, just had to pick that up for a time waster in the future.
Sudoko (Easy to Hard). If you don’t know what this is, click here to find out.

Yeah, quite a haul. 7 books in one trip home that I either bought or received. And that doesn’t include the books I’m already trying to read! Somebody keep me away from the bookstores!

I had a great time with my family, and spent some time being thankful for what I have and what has been given to me – but I do that everyday. I would hope that everyone does that; ‘Thanksgiving’ shouldn’t be the only time of the year that we do that.

On that note, it is time for me to get some sleep.

Quote of the week (a few days late)

Ok, I thought I had posted this on Sunday night, but I guess not.

“…do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things” Matthew 6:34
I’d just like to chime in; ‘tomorrow’ is never ‘today’.

Winter Wonderland!

So, last night winter officially arrived in wonderful Platteville. With a total snowfall of about 2 to 6 inches predicted, after the rain changed to snow…
Anyhow, we got about 3 inches it looks like, but due to the great 40mph gusts right now it’s blowing all over. That, and all the ice under it is fun staff.

As a result, I’m going to be walking to class for the first time this semester in a little bit. Hope I don’t fall on the ice.

So, as of today I can officially say “I had to walk to school in the winter with snow, ice, and 40mph winds uphill both ways!”
Makes me laugh a bit.

Have a great day everyone!

Oh boy, what a week.

Had some pretty bad things come up again, stuff I wish a few people would be willing to move on and get beyond the blindness and stone and ice hearts they have right now and open their eyes to what everybody else can see.

I’ve had to deal with rumors and various ‘crap’ that has been said about me. I’m thankful for the fact that I have not swooped down to that level and released the same vindictive and mean things in response. I’m better than that, I know better than that. I also know that they should know better than that – after all, they were the ones that continually preached me about how one needs to not do that.

Thanks for the example on what not to do. Real life experiences are far more powerful than talking about it.
To bad none of them read this journal.

Exam, Lab, and Fellowship

Took my Mechanics of Materials exam today, don’t think I did very good on it. Anyhow, the professor threw out one questions because we never went over it in class, so I’m not sure really. I might have done pretty good.

Anyhow After the exam I did something unusual – I vent a bit by doing some homework. Yeah, doing homework. That’s a new one. Anyhow, I finished a lab problem for my partner and I in about 3 hours. I really should post some of the work I’m doing on the website one of these days, I’m doing some really interesting things.

But, this isn’t why I’m typing her tonight.
I feel good. Really good. Better than I have in a long time. I got something off my chest that’s been on me for a while, and I had a good time at Inter Varsity tonight. All in all – it’s been a good day, and tomorrow I get to go home. Should be a good weekend too.

Leave your problems and worries and sadness to Him, and remember them no more.
