Car Accident

So tonight I headed out with some friends to the Timber Rattlers Baseball game here in town. Had a pretty good time. Had a short rain delay because it was pouring rain at one point though, and wow that raid was cold.

So on the way home I got a phone call from one of my friends, telling me to watch out for the car accident at the corner near the stadium.

Problem was – I was already their. I was in the accident.
So I had a green light and a younger women (guessing 18 or so) did too – but she turned and hit me on the front driver’s side near the headlight. I didn’t even see her until just before I heard the crunch.
The car jumped a good 3 feet or so sideways, it was a solid impact. I’m surprised the airbag didn’t go off actually. I was going about 30mph, she had to have been doing at least 20mph.
I was OK.
She was alright as well, which is a good thing.

‘stuff’ can get replaced, people can’t.

So for the 3rd time in my life I dialed 911 (Other 2 were because of a coworker’s injury and a physical altercation that occurred while I worked at Shopko).
The police showed up, and called in the fire department because antifreeze was on the road from her car. A good Samaritan who saw the accident stayed and gave his eyewitness to the police, which resulted in her being cited and placed ‘at fault’ for the accident.
Her car got towed away by the tow truck, I drove mine home with the damage done after it was cleared by both the police and the firemen. Helps that I only had to go about 3 or 4 miles.

At home I turned on the lights and got a good look at what was all damaged.
I’m pretty sure the insurance company is going to total the car. The damage will come to at least 50% to 75% of its value – which is generally the point at which they call a car totaled. I need pretty much an entire new front end body wise, the radiator has been ‘moved’ sideways a fraction of an inch so that’s all out of whack now, and it’s anybody guess as to what else the body shop will find.

So, it looks like I will be getting a new car, a little sooner than expected perhaps, but the important thing is that everybody was OK.

So, I’ll add a future car payment to my monthly bills – along with rent and utilities.
Yep, I’m moving out to a place about a mile from my parents place.
More on that later.
I haven’t even moved out an the bills are starting to pile up!
